Tell me why this gave me 100% more chills than the new one.

I want to give the new one a chance, I really do. I think Lucas really screwed the pooch with the prequels. (Well, I kinda-sorta liked the last one a little, the end anyway) In all honesty, after 35 years of it, I think Lucas is just sick of dealing with it and made them intentionally bad so that people would quit bugging him about it.

I have been reading people complaining about new vs old Star Wars ever since the trailer came out. Will JJ do a good job? What does JJ know about Star Wars? He can't do a worse job than Lucas did, etc.. etc...

Then someone said, "I like what JJ did to Star Trek. He turned Star Trek into Star Wars. Maybe he can do the same thing for Star Wars."

I'm an old Trekkie too, and I liked the new ones. I hope J.J. can make the story as good as the action.

This is precisely why I've pretty much always been confident that JJ would do a good job with Star Wars. I utterly, utterly hate what he did to Star Trek, but from those films - the first, in particular - it's clear the guy knows how to make a decent Star Wars movie.

Combine that with his obvious passion for the franchise - you can tell from the interviews, the dedication to physical props where possible, and the fact that a lot of the 'new' designs, such as the ball droid and the new X-Wings, are based on old McQuarrie concept art - as opposed to his utter disdain for Star Trek, and it's a pretty safe bet that JJ'll make a good-to-excellent Star Wars film. I loved the trailer, and I'm really looking forward to the movie.
